Airport project completed
Students in Jodie Eiland's Carpentry/Masonry Trades classes recently completed a wheelchair accessible ramp at Shawnee Regional Airport as part of a community service project.
The new ADA compliant ramp serves offices attached to a bulk hanger. City officials are refurbishing the building in hopes of attracting an aviation-related business.
Gay Johnston's Graphic Design students recently submitted drawings for a possible new logo for the airport.
The projects are part of a larger effort to modernize the airport and make it more visitor/business friendly. A modern, new $900,000 terminal building is under construction and a parallel taxiway is under construction.
Shawnee Regional Airport features a 5,600 feet long runway that serves aircraft up to the size of business passenger jets.
