Area freshmen shadow pre-engineering
Freshmen from several area schools spent part of the day Friday, Jan. 21 shadowing the GCTC Pre-Engineering Academy to find out ways the program prepares high school students for college study of math or science related careers.
The GCTC Pre-Engineering Academy employs a hands-on, project-based, and problem-based Project Lead the Way curriculum. The curriculum is rigorous in coursework and engineering problem solving covering engineering principles, mathematics, chemistry, physics, digital electronics, and computer-aided drafting and design.
The Academy, for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, provides a solid engineering and academic foundation that prepares high school students to successfully transition to a college environment.
