Hargrove to be honored
Prague resident Jackie Hargrove has been an outspoken advocate for Gordon Cooper Technology Center and CareerTech education throughout her career, school board service, and into retirement.
To honor her service to the school, countless students, and area communities, the Gordon Cooper Education Foundation recently selected Mrs. Hargrove to be inducted into the GCTC Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center main campus at Interstate 40 and Hwy. 18. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
Retired GCTC Superintendent Beth Little will offer remarks about Mrs. Hargrove’s service before her portrait is unveiled on the GCTC Hall of Fame wall.
Mrs. Hargrove served on the
Gordon Cooper Technology Center Board of Education as Zone 3 representative for
nine years, from 1996 to 2005.
She retired from Prague
Public Schools after serving nearly 30 years in positions including high school
counselor and middle school principal. She taught various subjects in the
school system including eighth grade English, music for grades 1-8 and social
studies.
Mrs. Hargrove was born in
Stilwell and graduated from Stilwell High School. She received a bachelor’s
degree in education from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master’s degree in
guidance and counseling from East Central State University in Ada. She also
completed an administrative certification from East Central.
She is an active member of
Prague First Baptist Church where she has served as adult Sunday school teacher
and member of the church choir.
Mrs. Hargrove has been
active in Prague Chamber of Commerce for many years and she is a member of
Prague Kiwanis Club.
Jackie and her husband,
James, have a son and daughter and grandchildren.
