Students assist with public art project
Students in Marc Chapman's Collision Repair Technology classes applied a protective clear coat to large horse statue that is part of the "Horse in the City" public art project in Shawnee.
GCTC was contacted by former Shawnee Mayor Chuck Mills about helping with the horse that was purchased for display by the Absentee Shawnee Nation. The horse was beautifully painted by Native American artist Jerry Haney.
Students Michael O. of Chandler, Marisa T. of Prague and Nathan S. of Seminole, who are part of the student organization SkillsUSA, worked on the project. The school agreed to help with the live work project for cost plus 15 percent.
