To access and add a network printer you:

1. Open start menu

2a. If using XP click run on right side.

2b. If using Windows vista or Windows 7 click in text box at bottom of start menu. (Eventually all computer at GCTC will use Windows 7

3. Type: \\svr-prt

4. Hit Enter

5. You screen will show a list of computers sorted by room number.

6a. Select printer needed.

6b. To make that computer the default printer (the printer that will automatically be selected), double click on the selected printer and from that window select default.

For frequently used internet sites, a user can create an icon on the desktop as a short cut.

Method 1

1. Open browser (Internet Explorer)
2. Make sure browser in not maximized so you can see the browser and the desktop.
3. Open browser to the web-site that you want.
4. In the address bar, click on the icon to the left and then drag the icon to the desktop.

Method 2

1. Open browser (Internet Explorer)
2. Open to the web-site that you want.
3. At the top left of the browser tool bar, click on "File"
4. Hover over the "Send" option under the "File"
5. Click "Shortcut to Desktop"
